Picture Frames

Today we started our D&T project. We looked at some different picture frames on the internet and designed some using a picture of Bart Simpson at AllPosters.co.uk. Now we are desiging our own frames for children 7-11 years old.

The King Of The Dark Tower Chapter 1

In class we are reading The King Of The Dark Tower by Alan Brown. This is part of our study on Quest Myth in Literacy.
So far we have found out:-
The Setting

• A long time ago when the world was new.
• There are two kingdoms one is underground and the other is the earth.
• The kingdom below the earth is dark and mysterious
• The kingdom on top was bright and cheerful.
• It is set in the time when King Arthur reigned.

The Characters

• There are three brothers, Edward the eldest, James and Rowland.
• They have a sister called Helen.
• Merlin the Magician is in the story.
• Their mother who loves her children dearly.

Events

• Their dad has died.
• He was riding a horse in a joust and fell off breaking his neck.
• The children went to play football in the meadow with a pig's bladder.
• Edward kicked the ball so it flew over the church like a balloon.
• Helen went to get the ball because the older boy picked on Rowland and she went instead of him.
• She didn't return.

The Animal Lady

Lunt Fort part 2

Doug told us a lot of information about the Romans. He told us about where the soldiers lived and what they did on guard duty. We went to the ditch outside the fort. It was deep and at the bottom was a slot called an ankle breaker. You had to break your ankle to get out of the hole. CW edited by DM,JP,JO.

Have you ever read a book by Andy Stanton? Why not? Well if you can't get to a library in the next few days keep listening in class and we'll be reading 'You're a bad man Mr Gum'. Holiday

Lunt Fort part1

At Lunt Fort we had a great time.
It was dull and grey that was spoiling our trip. Our guide was called Doug he showed us around the Lunt Fort.

School Visit

Today Sue Fearon from Birmingham City Mission came to visit our school and take assembly. We heard about the story of the Good Samaritan and how God wants us to think about others as we think about ourselves.
This year we will be helping others through the work of Birmingham City Mission by giving our harvest gifts to them to distribute to those in need.

Roald Dahl Day

On Thursday we had Roald Dahl Day and we had to wear something backwards or yellow. We read The Twits, it is a book that would make you laugh out loud. J.W K.G

The First Week

On the first day we wrote a poem called Feeding the Ducks and did registration. We had an assembly. After assembly we went to the tuck shop or out to play. Later we started work in our Literacy books. Next we did maths and picked school councillors. We also had a tour of the school to find out where everything is. On Friday we watched Through the Dragons Eye in the Fun Factory. DM
